KALUMA is a Barcelona-based design studio redefining waste by transforming discarded materials into beautiful, functional objects. Rooted in sustainability, innovation, and craftsmanship, our mission is to create accessible, eco-conscious design that gives new life to forgotten materials.
Our Story
KALUMA was founded on a simple belief:
Waste is only wasted if we let it be.
After graduating as an industrial design engineer, founder Greta Marie Tilebein set out to create sustainable designs that are accessible to everyone. By aligning with the price range of IKEA’s higher-end products, KALUMA ensures high-quality craftsmanship at an affordable cost—allowing more people to make conscious, eco-friendly purchasing decisions without compromising on design. We believe in giving waste a new purpose.
Our Process
At KALUMA, we create, experiment, invent, and challenge ourselves every day to design and craft products and materials that not only benefit the planet but also bring joy to your home.We carefully select materials, whether they are reclaimed, recycled, or biodegradable, and handcraft each piece with care. Every design is unique, reflecting our commitment to reducing waste and crafting high-quality, eco-conscious products.
Our Mission
Sustainability shouldn’t be a luxury, nor does it have to be obvious. We believe responsible design should be accessible to everyone. By embracing circular design principles, KALUMA strives to create affordable, beautiful products that make a positive impact on both the planet and the people who use them.
The Future
AstroPod, our debut product, is just the beginning of our journey. As KALUMA grows, our vision is to continue expanding into innovative lighting and furniture collections, always staying true to our mission of sustainability, creativity, and accessible design.
